How Taylor Swift Helped Inspire Adele

It seems that it’s been only been two weeks since British superstar Adele released her record-breaking third album 25. And while Adele has been emptying record stores and bringing millions of people to tears, it seems that a fellow pop star has gone MIA. Taylor Swift has not been seen in weeks. Swift hasn’t posted a selfie on any of her social sites in weeks, which really makes her fans worry.

And while life seems disappointing without Taylor-sightings, it seems that the singer is still making headlines thanks to the help of Adele. Adele praised fellow Queen Taylor as helping to make her new album iconic. In a recent interview with NPR Adele states that listening to a Taylor Swift song helped to inspire a song on her album.  In the interview Adele claims that listening to Swift’s song “I Knew You Were Trouble” helped inspire Adele to work with famed producer Max Martin, who produced her song “Send My Love (to Your New Lover)”.

“I was in New York, writing ‘Remedy’ with Ryan Tedder. We were having lunch, and ‘[I Knew You Were] Trouble’ came on the radio — Taylor’s song that she did with Max and Shellback. I was like, ‘Who did this?’ I knew it was Taylor, and I’ve always loved her, but this is a totally other side — like, ‘I want to know who brought that out in her.’ And he said [Swedish music producer] Max Martin. I was unaware that I knew who Max Martin was. I Googled him, and I was like, ‘He’s literally written every massive soundtrack of my life.’

So I got my management to reach out. They came to London, and I took my guitar along and was like, ‘I’ve got this riff,’ and then ‘Send My Love’ happened really quickly. Max Martin, I just could hang out with him forever. He’s so beautiful and lovely and funny and generous and warm and caring. He’s a really amazing man.”

In case you didn’t know Max Martin is the genius behind almost every pop anthem for the past two decades. So thanks Max Martin for helping Taylor Swift turn pop and thanks Taylor for inspiring Adele to change up her sound as well.

It’s so nice to see Adele praising Taylor after all the negative stories and photos in the media that have been pinning the two singers against each other.
