If you know me then you know that I am a huge Disney freak. Even at the prime age of 24 I still relish my old Disney movies. Who needs to go out in public when I can stay in with Cinderella, Mulan, and Tarzan? But out of all the great Disney movies out there my favourite Disney movie, perhaps my favourite movie of all time, is The Little Mermaid. I don’t even know how to put into words my love of this movie. Ever since I watched it when I was a toddler, I was mesmerized. Even my parents couldn’t understand why I was so infatuated by a mermaid princess. Well, after watching Ariel turn into a human for the 723523452459 time I think I finally figured why I was so drawn to this movie. The Little Mermaid is actually LGBT friendly. Growing up as a young closeted gay The Little Mermaid was probably my first foray into the gay community.
Recapping 2015 with the biggest memes, movies, and celebrity moments of the year. It was a year full of dreadful minions, musical comebacks, and Cookie. 2015 was pretty iconic.
34 years ago today the lord blessed the world through Lynn Spears’ womb. Little did Lynn know that she was carrying a goddess inside her. And thus flawlessness took human form as Britney Jean Spears was born and forever changed the world. Britney has dedicated her life to helping mankind by spreading the good word of the Holy Spearit, through her catchy and infectious pop songs. So on this day of her birth I find it fitting that we, her beloved followers and stans, should give back to the Queen that has given us so much. But what do you get such a flawless being? How does one. accurately express the gratitude for such amazing pop hits like “Baby One More Time” and “Gimme More”? I don’t think Hallmark has a card for that. But don’t you fret by fellow Britney lovers, I have compiled a list of the most Britastic gifts for our beloved Queen.
After spending a weekend binge watching Quantico, (a show you must all watch, seriously it’s amazing) I can now say I am officially obsessed with Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka is everything in this world. She’s a gorgeous and talented singer and actress who conquered Bollywood, and now has her eyes set on Hollywood. After being named Miss World in 2000 she went on to star in over 40 films and is now the lead actress on ABC’s Quantico. Not only is she beautiful she is both a feminist and humanitarian. What more can you ask in a person? Priyanka Chopra is a flawless queen, representing my beautiful brown girls and makes me proud to be Indian.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year you’ve probably heard Taylor Swift’s iconic, life-changing album 1989. For the past five months Swift has been touring her album around the world. Now while Swift touring is already huge news, what makes this tour really newsworthy is that she has been bringing out special guests for every show. Swift has gone through her address book of A-listers and called upon her squad to be surprise guests at her shows. Now the thing with her special guests is that they’re totally unpredictable. From musicians to actors, models, and even athletes, everyone is welcome on Taylor’s stage. Some of her recent guests include Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Selena Gomez, Fetty Wap, Leona Lewis, and the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team. See, they’re completely random ranging from age group, demographic, and genre, proving that Taylor Swift is truly a masterful performer. Now after seeing post after post on Swift’s Instagram account she is finally bringing her tour to Toronto this Friday October 2 and Saturday October 3. And of course like the loyal Swiftie I am, I will be attending her Friday show. Now while I am extremely excited to see Queen Taylor belting out her infamous songs, I am intrigued to see who she will bring as her guests. She’s already had a handful of performers grace her stage, so it will be interesting to see who the next chosen one is. Plus Toronto is home to a wide variety of talent so Taylor has a lot to choose from.
There’s no denying that Taylor Swift is taking over the music industry. From her amazing album sales, sold out concerts, and A-lister duets, she is one of music’s top stars. But lately Taylor is stepping up her music video game. With the release of her album 1989 Taylor has been changing her music video style. Perhaps it’s the addition of director Joseph Khan to her team, but Taylor’s last few videos have been totally iconic. Now don’t get me wrong Taylor has always had amazing music videos, but she’s reaching a whole new level of iconic. Bad Blood music video anyone? But the majority of Taylor’s video have a common denominator. The mostly feature a young attractive male lead. Whether they’re cheating on her or buying her flowers Taylor knows how to cast a hottie in her music video. And after spending the last 2 hours watching non-stop Taylor Swift music videos I’ve decided to rank all Taylor’s onscreen lovers. Because I’m more than qualified to rank hot boys.
Music festivals have been around for years but recently gained popularity in the past few years. Every year hundreds of celebrities flock to California’s Coachella festival. While Montreal hosts its Osheaga music festival every August. Now usually music festivals aren’t really my thing. I prefer more mainstream music, while music festivals tend to feature more indie and hipster bands. Sure they’ll be a couple bands I’ll know but no one I absolutely adore. But like everything else I do, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone for the Instagram photos.
Toronto recently hosted its first WayHome music festival. Unlike other music festivals I’ve been to in the past this one actually requires you to camp at the festival. Like sleep in a tent, poop in a port-a-potty, brush your teeth with a water bottle, kind of camping. Now while I despised the bathroom situation and cell service was horrific, I actually had an amazing weekend. Music festivals have such a chill vibe. It’s basically just a giant field of chill people drinking, smoking, and having a good time. I went with a couple of my good friends and had an amazing time. Day drinking, dancing like a fool, tanning, and rocking out to Hozier were just some of the shenanigans I got up to this weekend. But it wasn’t all breakfast sangria and burritos. This being my first legit music festival there was a dose of drama. So here’s my official guide to surviving a music festival.
